Hoghton Tower Doll’s House Tour

IMG 4461

Having lived in Chorley for 11 years we had never visited Hoghton Tower (pronounced Hor-ton). This was partly due to the cost and partly due to the fact it often didn’t seem to be open when we thought about going. However, in May 2025 we joined Historic Houses when visiting Norhumberland. This meant we had free entrance to the Tower and so we went on one of the tours. It was very interesting and although we didn’t see a Doll’s House I had already noticed that there were Doll’s House tours and so we booked on one.

I thoroughly enjoyed this tour and it was well worth the money. Only six people can go at once and there are 3 or 4 each month from spring to autumn.

Unfortunately there is no guide book available (lack of volunteers and funds) so I am including the ones from their website, which I hope is all right.

The two guides were full of information and there was lots of time to have a good. Therefore, the best thing I can do is point you to their page for further information.

They also recommended two places, one the Judges Lodgings Museum Lancaster and the other a model of Hoghton Tower in Nostell Priory. I will have to add those to the list of places to add to these pages.
