Eggesford Station

After we had visited Exeter St David’s, we drove up to Eggesford. With fairly narrow main roads there were continuing small queues on the other side because of cyclists. We discovered that about 1500 of them were involved in a charity ride, the centre point of which was along the way.  However, by the time we were driving many had finished.

Eggesford is unusual in that a token is still exchanged at the station between guards of trains going in opposite directions to safeguard the single line elsewhere along the line.

Unfortunately we arrived just as the two trains were pulling out, and we weren’t prepared to wait until the next passing.

For some reason we took two photos of ourselves;  with different signs.
