The second of our five East Anglia stations visits was to Norwich. This one rates four stars in Jenkin’s book and for good reasons.
The proper name is Norwich Thorpe, as can be seen on the ornamental light in one of the pictures. This was one of four stations built by different companies in the “railway wars”.
There was quite a lot of train action in the station and I wasn’t the only person taking photos.
I was particularly interested in the bust of Sir Samuel Morton Peto. As can be seen he was a Baptist, Contractor, Politician and Philanthropist.
Though this rang a bell I didn’t know why, so I looked him up and there is a separate page about him in the Journeying with Faith section.
